In red is a mistranslation, it's actually a reference to kohaku and hisui's synchronization.

So then what makes psychics different from the rest of the people who use singularities is the fact they have abilities but remain completely human and don't use magic circuits. And in Red Demon God you find out that their abilities are from Alaya.
And finally we get to this.

According to magi, espers themselves are a specialized magic circuit.
But the reality of the situation seems to be a bit different. Magi are just being convenient with their definitions as always.
