weird thought crossed into my mind when i was thinking "ah man, why do we need to throw lovecraft into this, when we already have crazy stuff like entities inside the root?"
what are your thoughts on perhaps the lovecraftian gods being those entities/former magicians or perhaps avatars of the same?
do you think that it is likely? do you think Nasu would ever write it in such a way?

yes but what are the odds that those are related to the people/beings in the Root since Akasha seems to basically be Azatoth
Akasha is like YHVH or Amenominkanushi or Vajradhara or Brahma or Wuji...etc etc. Why must it only be Lovecraft? Lovecraft is not even original with the origin of all things. Heck the whole deal with Ryouji (literally named after the concept that comes from Wuji) is extremely Taoism.

Yeah there are more than 2 billion people who would instantly get the God reference compare to the amount of ppl who understand any Lovecraft references beyond the name Cthulhu and Nyarlathotep.

Your personal optics for powerlevel or w/e that is has no bearing on the matter. When it comes to "that which is the origin of all things", every single of those beings I mentioned (except Wuji, it's literally the Root in every sense of it, that's why I said Akasha is very Taoism and most likely inspired mostly by Taoism) are the same. Out of all I mentioned, Wuji is almost identical to the concept of the Root.
You should just admit that you have a boner for Lovecraft stuffs and want them to be the end all be all here. But if you love Lovecraft stuffs so much, then I find it strange you even want them in a setting where "humans can do anything and the unknown will eventually be conquered", it's completely against the idea of these Outer Gods.

Religion's on a completely different scale than second-string names from a horror series.
Within the scopes of their respective mythologies, YHVH is the creator of everything that is, and all of reality is Azatoth's dream, to disappear without a trace when he stirs. So scope-wise they're fairly similar.
Regardless, this analogy is stupid because what little we know of the Root indicates that it resembles a place, or perhaps a plane of enlightement, not an entity.

Yes. That's why I said the Wuji in Taoism is the closest thing. Wuji is literally the zero, the void, yet at the same time infinite, the origin of all. Its representation is the Taiji which is equivalent to the birth of the universe which then comes the Ryougi (Yin and Yang, there's female and male Shiki Ryougi). And then you have the Taoists trying to find ways to reach Taiji and eventually Wuji which would grant them omnipotence/the power of Heaven (like the magi trying to reach the Root and you become godlike once you got there).Regardless, this analogy is stupid because what little we know of the Root indicates that it resembles a place, or perhaps a plane of enlightement, not an entity.
