You..didn't know in her story she literally got her head chopped off and the head still tried to attack Raikou?

Oh yeah, I do. He didn't though. It's kind of funny to think about that happening with the FGO versions, but it's still just as scary.

don't quote me on this
Rewatching the first couple of episodes of DEEN/stay night and enjoying myself a lot more than I thought. I suppose 3 years ago I fixated on the weakest aspects and wasn't able to appreciate stuff like the background art and detail of a lot of scenes, at least in these early episodes. A lot of neat details also went over my head since this was my introduction to Fate. This show can be absolutely gorgeous when the stars align.
Spoiler:
Shuten can handle it rough. In other news, when Jing Ke was first released, I said that I also wanted a Qin Shihuang to act as her counterpart. Ditto with Moses and Ozymandias. For some odd reason, people didn't believe that that would happen. Well, Qin Shihuang is out, but other than Moses, I'm hoping for a Xerxes to run counter to Leonidas. However, we already have Darius III... How would they differ? Golden, bald man with an undead army:
Sometimes I forget how much the initial concept of Leonidas the servant is almost lifted up from the 300 comic/movie.
When Darius III was released, apart from joke theories that he was Dhalsim, the other theories were Darius I, Darius II, or Xerxes I.
Better than me watching Carnival Phantasm first before diving into the actual 'verse.
For 2006, I can consider that one as a work of art since they got most things in the VN spot on until they faced the fact that this route alone is incoherent without the scenes from the other routes.
At that time, since they don't expect to make 2 or 3 routes like ufotable did, they went with the "mix scenes from the two other routes" route.
Not dealing with it...
Why even try?
This is golden...
So who do you personally believe are some of the strongest nasuverse characters in the 21st century that are under 150 years old? ( not counting MoDP users)
Also, same question but focused on having the more unique abilities, but not necessarily related to power.
Yeah, the later episodes are the ones that most stuck in my memory. Even though bondage Sakura was weird, I don't mind the route mixing here too much. My issue is that the production takes a nosedive around the Archer vs. Berserker fight. Before my recent early-episode rewatch that I've been enjoying, I had only gone back to the last couple of episodes, the skyscraper battle and Archer vs. Berserker and I've detailed before why I don't like that battle and while I don't think Saber vs. Rider and the last couple of episodes were as bad as GAR vs. Herk, I do think they were pretty underwhelming and kind of emblematic of the show's problems as a whole. That said, I definitely regret having only remembered the worst parts of it. It was especially refreshing seeing gorgeous background art here after coming off a few seasonals with really mediocre-to-ugly backgrounds. I might skip out on the rest of the rewatch when I start getting to the episodes I disliked, but if I do I'll get to rewatching the UBW movie since all I remember from it were a few scenes I liked such as Dr. Gilgamesh.
The mixing up of routes honestly worked well in the last two episodes for me, because it included some revelations from Heavens Feel that really hyped me up for watching Fate/Zero after I was done with Deen FSN
I was actually slightly disappointed we never saw Saber vs gilgamesh in the field of a flaming fuyuki in Fate/Zero, since the Deen anime would occasionally allude to it.
I've seen the whole thing before (it was my introduction to Fate, after all), just didn't think much of its better earlier episodes since the final ones (which at the time I thought were generally fine fwiw) and especially the middle of the 2nd cour kinda colored my perception of the show as a whole, and rewatching key scenes over the years soured my opinion of it. It didn't help that I watched it directly before Zero, which I have revisited many times and enjoyed more each go-around. I've really appreciated the subtleties in FSN 06, even if a lot of the bigger stuff is lacking and the good stuff is still a little rough around the edges, so I doubt I'll be ducking out. I have not rewatched ufoUBW since first seeing it in 2016 and I liked it well enough at the time but had quite a few issues with it, some more after reading the VN. I'll probably revisit at least some of it after DEEN UBW.
I will say that I watched Deen FSN and UBW movie before I even knew there was a VN, and while watching the movie at first REALLY confused me since I was expecting a retelling, it really opened my mind to the idea of multiple routes and alternative perspectives of the same characters being told by 'parallel' stories. It slightly spoiled my experience actually reading the UBW route, but I was very surprised at first when watching the movie since I actually did not get the Archer/Shirou connection when watching FSN. Like, at all, even while shirou was swinging his twin swords.
I've said it before, I'll say it again. DEEN is (was? I haven't watched any of their recent stuff) great at still frames and occasionally some really damn good fine detail. It's when they start taking bad shortcuts for animation that they fall behind.
Like, they'd be an amazing manga studio, just get them out of the animation business because holy shit the original VN had more movement and animation than some of DEEN/Stay Night.
