That and Hollow Ataraxia also has Zero be what occurred anyways, from the way Saber reacts to octopus to Illya & Shirou's discussion on Kiritsugu and how Shirou notes that Illya is telling him stuff Saber didn't mention/straight up possibly lied about.

But even with the Ufo animes, it does seem a little funny how stuff like Rin saving all those kids is never referenced again.

She probably finds her old playing hero escapade to be kind of embarassing, especially in light of who she's basically babysitting. It'd probably take awhile for Rin post-UBW at least to admit to Shirou that she was just as recklessly heroic as he is at one point. Frankly, she still is, but she still doesn't like admitting it.

I mean it's sometimes a little weird to me how unseen/underpromoted (I guess?) some of these characters are, like Aoi or Maiya or Kariya. Like beyond her son in Strange Fake, have we seen hints of Maiya in adaptations or media beyond Fate/Zero? And I don't mean stuff like she was on a Craft Essence image.

Granted it's kind of interesting, now that I look back on it, how Rin seems to never mention her mother in the VN.

I'm wondering if she'll be the completely normal heroine route.
When you strip a series to the bare bones you're basically left with a walking skeleton. Even if it still can walk around somehow, who wants to see a pile of bones shuffling around?

When something has too limited a cast, it must either have a very simple plot to accommodate few players, or it must give those few characters parts in every event, even those requiring to go out of their way to fulfill what would be more logical to assign to a bit player.

Not every character has to be super-duper important for them to contribute to the story feeling more natural.

True. I guess I just feel some characters were made more as motivations for other characters and having little characterization or role beyond that. At the very least I did sort of feel they weren't explored much.

And we don't seem to hear about them, or be referenced in some way, in later stuff so it seems kind of sad to me.

Like with Maiya, I wonder if more could've been done with her than what was used in canon because seeing some of the stuff, like that drama CD thing where she enjoys the food at the hotel before its blown up, showed there could've been more to her I think.

Kariya is a Nice Guy later revealed to have terrible, selfish motives. Kerry is a jackass who has a genuinely good motive.

Prisma Illya universe, Hisau Maiya runs a rival ramen shop against her arch-nemesis, Kotomine Kirei.

I would love that. I really would. It would be something a little novel with her at least.

It's funny, in retropect, Kariya really is that crazy homeless guy that is chasing and stalking after a married women, in the eyes of a bystander that shit really is creepy.

So what does that say when most people root for him? That people like that kind of stuff?

You root for him until you see how fucked up he truly is, and that's when it goes from rooting for the underdog to the feeling of "where did it go wrong?" from watching the tragedy.

    Kariya did nothing wrong.

You root for him because you only watched the anime and never saw how the novel portrayed him as a creepy obsessive weirdo from the get-go

How can you read the novel in the first place?

They're translated. I think the translation went Japanese -> Chinese -> English though, instead of directly from JP to EN?
