So originally Benkei was planned to be an immortal Xian back in Apo b4 he got cut from the project. But in FGO he's now a Xian lived for 400 years, without the immortality part.

I wonder it was done due to the actual Xians turn out to be similar species to the TAs and the whole QSH copying Xian's biology from Yu to make his pseudo-Xian body.

You can say that they put it there as reference to the discarded idea from Apo, but these "trivia" always turn into something real in TM. Never forget that whole Scathach = Skadi thing also came from "her name seems to be originate from Skadi according to some blah blah folklore" mentioned in the mats. So no, I'm not gonna take that as classic irrelevant thing, but classic TM "by the way there's this thing that you might want to note just in case we use it later".

actually the scathach=skadi thing came from TM calculating you could get huge amounts of money by convincing people to gamble for Vapid Underwear Model (Winter edition), which does not seem as plausible in the case of benkei, even hypothetical sen'nin benkei

which is a shame really, since his character design is actually quite good
