You're making a compelling case, but Shiki's everyday life post Mirai Fukuin consists of being a Yakuza Heiress, capitalisation intended, and nothing really states that her murderous impulse was ever quashed for good. So she's still decidedly Abnormal And Improper by the average everyman standards. You could just as easily flip the script and say it's about Normal Person Mikiya, whose primary characteristic is Being Normal, and how his perception of normality and everyday life is permanently warped to include being a half-blind househusband to a criminal urban legend.

Ed: It's been years since I watched the movies and I'm probably forgetting some things, please don't kill me.

notional 'average everyman standards' are irrelevant to this discussion. the issue is one of the 'normality' that is apophatically realised at the end of movie 7, the attainment and maintenance of the nichijou through (a) shiki's being anchored to mikiya and (b) the abjection and elimination of the irruption into the continuum of the nichijou, i.e. Araya (or Lio) as the most improper form of life. the fantasy 'Yakuza Boss Shiki' (note the capitals, a clear sign of mental contamination by TVTropes Thought) does not exist in the movie or book and has no bearing on this discussion.
(but mirai fukuin-)
mirai fukuin sucks dick lmao

If only things we do not like could be effaced just like that, huh.
I don't consider "TVTropes Thought" to be an insult, Tropes Are Tools after all, but I was mimicking your way of posting by Capitalising Important Concepts. You'd better go pick that first stone back up.

no, i mean, i fail to see how you plan to mimic my posting style by capitalising terms tvtropes style, something I have not done at all in this entire conversation
it just seems like an unusual way of trying to achieve that

You haven't done it in this conversation, but it is something you do frequently, unless I'm hallucinating and/or confusing you with another equally sequipedalian user.

Either way, that's not really germane to the matter at hand. If you say you don't, fine, so be it.
shit BL says

Yakuza princess Shiki is a daimyou of the modern era, god forbid if this supposedly violent syndicate dabbles in something more hardcore than collecting overdue rent and evicting unlicensed fortune tellers from back alleys.
I'm surprised you didn't figure Enjou the poster boy of nostalgia for lost domesticity into your reading.
enjou is more complicated. he does embody a certain nostalgic idealisation of the lost nichijou but its impact is muted by the portrayal re: araya's building, which is a whole massive Benjaminian statement about time whose true import the narrative of knk must carefully repress. it's clearer to talk about the OTP

So just to be clear, this reading is contingent on utterly ignoring the last book/movie?

mirai fukuin presents no major obstacle to this reading; it is after all a reconfirmation - indeed an enforcement on the level of predestination - of the conclusion reached in 7. i just don't like it because of its excess of shit memes

placeholder because I'll run out of battery before finishing
EDIT some hours later: Ok I'm back but I'm completely pooped so let this stand as evidence that someday, somehow I will continue this discussion in a way that will be both productive and meaningful
