I had it on PS3 and I didn't like it too much. I only played an hour or so though.

Part of the reason I didn't like it was the fact that there is a countdown constantly going to the end of the world. But I hear you have plenty of time to do stuff anyway.

Yeah you have way too much time even for a first playthrough as long as you remember to stop the clock when needed.

You can't actually change Lightning herself.
Edit: Oh yeah piece of advice for those who start LR, learn to perfect guard before you get to the Wildlands boss.
You can get through the rest of the game fine without it on normal mode, but he'll annihilate you if you don't know how to do it. I'd advise leaving him for last.
