Anyway the thing I meant is that 2hu fangame enthusiasts who nevertheless haven't snapped up the eng patch in the almost two years that it's been out don't seem like a substantial target audience, but then again they may have gotten the license for peanuts so selling 5 copies turns in a profit.

The whole business of localizing fangames is odd. ZUN's got the original copyright, but copyright in Japan makes it so that doujin circles can make profit. I get how that works, it's based off of historical tradition and precedent dating all the way back to ink paintings and how artists would do their own reinterpretations of previous works by the masters. Then we get a localization company and that chiefly benefits the company, the original DJ group is lucky to see royalties from the sales and ZUN gets nothing except free advertising and this is all weird and interesting.
It's like Japonisme, but on a smaller scale.

It's weird to see this be real. As long as ZUN doesn't change his philosophy just because his stuff has become much easier to obtain legally for a lot of foreign people, I'm pretty happy with this.

I've always been curious to play Touhou games.
I downloaded the demo and will give a try. I'm not terribly good at bullet hell games, but I've always liked them.
