Not quite (though that sounds awesome in its own way) but manny would have worried he would just roll off and let the blast kill them both. No, he pistol whipped him and then rolled him over to put his body directly in between manny and the grenade.
its been a while since I wrote it, but manny's basic though process was since the guy is so damned determined to kill him he will die himself to do it, manny pistol whips him to daze him so he won't try and squirm out of manny's grip or try and lift manny into the blast radius, and then lies on the floor using the other guy as a blast shield/shrapnel absorber.
