Yeah, of course its eyes burn with the chill of inhuman blood lust. That's not something. Every one of them does that, on a virtually constant basis. Big wow. I'd be more surprised if there was one that didn't want to tear me to pieces on sight. Not that I'd have it any other way, or that it'd matter - it makes my job a whole ton easier when every one of them is running right at me, practically begging to be swiftly killed then and there.
Its eyes also shone with a semblance of something like the emotion of hatred. Not that it was capable of knowing what hate was. It was just a mindless beast going by on primeval instinct ingrained deep in its mind. Except that I couldn't even give it that much credit. That'd be a slur to beasts everywhere. No, this was less than that, a tool acting out the pre-programmed orders like the obedient, killer, flesh chomping meat-puppet that it was. A thing that just remembered a memory of a memory and went on that in accordance to the irresistible servitude it was contracted into.
It wasn't psychotic, no. That definition implied that it had a fraction of a mind to think with in this state. It was just an undead automaton and had been so for long while, a shadow that no longer deserved to be associated with the memory of the human being that it once was.
This ghoul, this thing, didn't deserve to be pitied. It deserved to be destroyed and forgotten about without a second thought just like the rest of its kind.
Whatever. Sucker still can't do shit with its lower body pulped and an embarrassing half-stump as the only remaining fragment of arm it has left. Were it anything else I'd actually spare grudging respect for this thing for having the grit to rabidly snarl even when reduced to a bloody mess at the feet of it's slayer.
But I couldn't. So I wouldn't.
Because this deranged rip-off of life made me want to throw up. Because this absolutely disgusted me right to my core and I felt nothing but hate for it. Real hate. The kind that makes you want to do everything in your power to get it abso-fucking-lutely out of your sight that instant. Nothing like that pathetic imitation rage it had when it was glaring daggers at me.
Because this was a vampire, and so am I. Because every vampire in my reach was worth killing.
Honestly, if looks could kill then I wouldn't have needed to bring that demon sword that sung with the song of the humming runes engraved into its infested metal down on that ugly thing's head and reduced it into a puff of dusty gore. I wouldn't have needed to shred it, its fellow ghouls, and its very territory into incinerated swisschesse with the clouds of dense crematorial buckshot rounds fired unceasingly into the crowds they gathered in as response to the threat I posed to their master.
But hey, why would I want something boring like that?

Just a little tribute of mine to Enhance, my favorite Dead Apostle Ancestor and (hopefully possibly) Tsukihime 2 character. Was trying to straddle the line between gritty hardboiled vendatta-bearer FPP and vibes of the grimdark garden variety of Nitro+ protagonist. Not sure how successful I was, but since this more or less came out not too far from what I had in mind, which is rare, at the very least I'll consider it a job well done in that sense.
