Only advice I have for pullups is make sure your form is good. Other than that, just work your arms/chest more and keep plugging away.

Get down on the floor in push up position (but on elbows not palms), hold your body straight for 5 minutes. Feel the burn.

    Repeat.

Shoulders are a bit tough. The simplest thing to do is target them with an overhead press. If you use dumbbells then do it from a sitting position, but if you think you can take the wait use a barbell and do it standing.

While I'm not actually sure how accurate the calorie tracking on your average piece of gym equipment is, you have to keep in mind that tiny people are going to be getting smaller numbers than bigger people. And the output from an elliptical probably can't be directly compared to one from a treadmill, anyway.

As for pullups, try googling "Grease the Groove".

Hmm, never really concentrated on overhead presses. I'll give it a shot.

    @Mcjon
Ok, so I should ditch doing 11 and resort to 5-9 reps instead 4 times a day? Sounds like it might work. I'll try it.

They are a bitch, but it's a hell of an addition to any good workout. Not to mention you won't be doing damage to your body with bad form like so many other routines.

If you guys can't tell I'm a strong advocate of body weight training. If you do it right it's a great cardio workout and helps build muscle.

Yeah, the idea is basically to do submaximal sets, but more of them, and spread out through the day. The goal isn't to increase your physical strength so much as it is to train your central nervous system to be better at doing pullups (or whatever other exercise).

With the benefit of not having accumulated pain inhibit the willingness to persevere.

    Genius!

I find music helps. I think I could jog repeat any tedious, repetitive action until I faint so long as I had a good tune to zone out with.

Also, I was right, planks are a bitch.

If the time is an issue, why not try intervals for your cardio? Length usually isn't as important as intensity, and high intensity intervals are absurdly good for your heart, lungs, and a good way to get rid of the fat.

Running is easy when you're running away from imaginary zombies!

Well, I've never had a problem just going out and running, anyway, but it's still a cool app.

Hmm, I think I'm gonna try that then. Music alone just isn't cutting it.

Is it weird that I find boredom the more draining part of the workout? Sure, it's no problem with the ones where you keep count, but cardio.
