To be honest it feels almost like a retcon, adding abilities to the Unicorn's repertoire that we didn't know existed.
Of course, at the same time there's the fact that we never knew the full capabilities of the Unicorn to begin with, so it's not exactly a deal-breaker for me.
I wouldn't be surprised if this is partially just an excuse to retcon problematic Gundam series or something like that... and then there's the differing theories on time travel to deal with.
