I was watching all the new anime with my brotehr one season and he wanted to watch Iron Blooded Orphans, which I enjoyed. Then Thunderbolt came out and that blew me the fuck away. I also watched Wing when it was airing but that was sporadic since it was on TV and I missed large sections of it.

When I was starting watch anime I didn't know any better way than going by alphabet. That way I encountered SEED. It was way before 00 was aired and most others was under "M".

I actually liked it quite lot back then.

Watching Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta on Animax when I was a kid.

I used to find the Amuro ending song so horrible I skipped it everytime.

my first Gundam was Victory. didn't watched all of the episodes because I was kid and just wanted to see robots fighting.

I got really interested on Gundam since G Gundam.

But now I'm going through them all systematically mostly for the anime nerd cred.

I'm going through them all not for nerd cred, but smug self satisfaction. Besides even the worst of the lot have some good points to them, even if they weren't intended to be taken that way. Except for War in the Pocket, because fuck War in the Pocket.

War in the Pocket is the only one that manages to breach genre fiction imo.

I'm not saying I don't see why everyone else loves it. Just for some reason, I absolutely hate it.

I don't particularly love Pocket either, thought the opening sequence where the Alex purge its armor parts is very awesome. My favorite is 08th MS team since it show how tactical the army can be, using infantry and stuff, but the part with the Apsalus and the girl is very boring for me.

Wasn't there a SD series where they re-enacted the Sengoku period?That's some high level nonsense right there. I even remember the Gundams riding horses.

but the Gunpla of the Sengoku series are so popular, it even has a serialized manga on the manual.

My copy of Gundam Thunderbolt Volume 3 has arrived and is already read within the day.

But it was certainly good. I believe I am now caught up to where the anime currently is. Io and Daryl are certainly interesting characters and I can't wait to see where the story goes next.

Now I only just have to wait about 4 months for the next Volume to release. T_T

So while drinking and mararthoning Turn A, I've reached the conclusion that there's two kinds of Gundam series. Traditional and weird. Traditional ones tend to be UC shows, while the weird ones are the ones that try and twist things beyond the setting, Things like G Gundam being a shonen battle, War in the Pocket and 8th MS being form a non-typical prospective (Former being civilian and the later being grunts). Currently Turn A feels like one of the wierd ones, with it's war being an almost foregone conclusion at the beginning, and the emphasis on the civilian reaction to the invasion on both sides. Plus the whole Princess and the Pauper thing that started in episode 10 and is still going strong.

Also the second OP is pretty disappointing, going from using a classical chorus with Utena-ish visuals to a psychadelic filter over action shots set to J-pop.
