Except I don't think Shirou would keep on it. Mordred might share Arturia's face but not all that much else. She wouldn't set off the same...protective instinct? True love? Sexual confusion? Whatever it was that Arturia did. Nasu himself has said it wasn't so much that Shirou was against girls fighting as he was against Arturia fighting, and that both he and Nasu didn't know how else to remind her that she was a girl. Shirou is clearly pretty chill with Rin and Rider fighting, even if he'd still rather be the one taking the hits.

There could be a lot of potential problems with Shirou summoning Mordred, but I honestly don't think his whole "but you're a girl" thing would be one of them.

Mordred's surprisingly chill in Apocrypha. Makes me wonder why she's suddenly such a brat in FGO.

Maybe Shirou has a chance, then. Sidenote, I really wish I could play FGO. Does anyone know whether it would be worth reading some of the online translations, even sans gameplay?

There is the point that Shirou's overprotectiveness of Saber is largely based on first impression, since Saber immediately looks like a young girl while Mordred looks like a smaller, medieval Darth Vader since she gets summoned with her armor and helmet on.

So basically it would depend on how she does against Cu, assuming the same context as the VN.

And the biggest problem is that Hazama was made entertaining (and had his behavior enabled) by the environment he was in during CT and CS. By himself outside of that contest the fact that he's a completely one-note character would quickly make him either boring or annoying.

That could happen, or Tamamo could just tell Sakura that Shirou is prime husband material and she is very lucky.

She gave Kairi a warning first, so I imagine Shirou would get one as well. And it's not like he goes around demanding every female character in the series act more girlish, it's really just Arturia. And that has more to do with the fact that she's clearly suffering from something ​to Shirou's mind, and he doesn't really know how else to deal with it. Mordred might not be "girly," but she's definitely lively in a way Arturia was not. I don't think he'd have much trouble dealing with her, at least in that respect.

I think a bigger issue would be that he's a lousy magus and can't supply much prana. I don't think Mordred is necessarily above killing him if she thinks she can net a better Master, say Rin for example. Then again, maybe not. I've only been able to read some of Apocryhpa.

Yeah, this probably. And I figure she would do pretty well. What's Mordred's Luck? Would it be enough to counter Gae Bolg? On the other hand, I suppose she might not give Cu a chance to use it in the first place.

This could be an issue, but usually memories come with the impressions as much as the actual facts, right? I feel like he'd have gut sense that bringing it up might not be a day-one conversation to have. It could make a great point of character conflict and development if he brings it up after they've gotten close enough she doesn't just murder him for it right away.

If anything, I think Shirou and Mordred would hit it off pretty well assuming Mordred didn't do bad against Cu and Herc. Otherwise, if Shirou still go default Saber route it's more than possible their relationship would go sour to the point Mordred wanted to betray and kill him.

But Rin is a better match to Mordred anyway. Forget King Arthur, now the Team Daddy Issues is better than ever.
