    I had similar thoughts. I am touching on why Gilgamesh even gives Shirou the time of day in my Beach Arc. That is treated seriously. At least semi-serious.
    Gil raising shirou i don't mind being funny of course hell i never expected it to not be.
    Well if the 5th grail war ideal won't work how about just a serious romance story between to two like how Gil comes to as you said give shirou the time of day.
