The movie was like a slightly better kingdom hearts three. It was pretty good but it almost felt like a let down because it was trying to act as the triumphant conclusion to a long running story and honestly wasn’t as good as its predecessors

    Saw the movie last night

    Spoiler:

I liked the Time Hiest part, and most of the the timeskip stuff. The ending fell a bit flat though, I would have preferred they confront Thanos on the "two days ago" and beat him there and he goes to his death willingly. Would have more poignant. Liked the Scarlet Witch fight, Cap with Hammer, And Peggy getting a good ending. I think most of the Tony stuff fell flat since it was obvious he wanted out. And who the hell was that second kid at his funeral? After the guardians but before Marvel and Fury. I though Peter was the only kid in that cast? The final bit that took me out was the one part of the battle where they do the obvious hero shot of every female hero at once, going to the van, including Wasp, who was just fixing the goddamn van a minute ago. It felt way to forced.

Not as mindblowing as Guardians, Thor or Winter Soldier, more fun than Infinity War, but also more stiff in some bits. 8/10.
Binged All Of Gundam In 4 Years, 1 Week and All I Got Was This Stupid Mask

FF XIV: Walked to the End

Started Legend of the Galactic Heroes (14/07/23), pray for me.

    Spoiler:
Not a huge fan of how they brought back everyone even though they said that they weren't, but hey, comic books/movies, what can you do.

Infinity War was better. Except for the parts this movie did that really emotionally resonated. Some of those really felt earned after the ten-years this franchise has been about.

Still more hyped for Far From Home than this, even though I was pretty on-board for this film to happen anyway.

Pretty good. 8/10. Probably won't sit through it again unless I do it with a group of friends, though. 3 hours, wew lad.
McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.

That's a goddamn pull. One character from one movie that was only there for like 15 minutes tops.

i saw it and i think it sucked big time
    Spoiler:

what the fuck did they do to Thor, its just beyond my comprehension
Evans has like 30 seconds of good screentime and he barely does anything of note otherwise
RJD has predictable arc but i think even him carrying the movie just barely works, either because script is just that weak or because he cant/doesnt care anymore
thats 3 main characters, and side characters just arent particularly compelling considering amount of drama that ought to happen here

Saw Endgame, liked it a fair amount as a love letter to the MCU.
    Spoiler:
[The elevator fight getting subverted with Heil Hydra was great, probably one of my favorite parts of the movie along with the cavalry coming in once Thanos's army drops.]

Not my fault you didn’t marathon every movie in the lead up to this one, I caught EVERY reference (and my girlfriend hates me)

    Saw Endgame on Tuesday.

    Spoiler:
[Frankly I wish that Thanos' involvement ended after Thor killed him. Needing to rely on Past Thanos for the big bad was meh, as it cheapened the end of Infinity War. Would have traded the entire fight scene at the end for more Time Heist stuff, or at least not send Nebula directly to a place that she knew she Thanos was heading towards at that time in case of a freak accident happening. Since Marvel wanted to ignore normal time travel shenanigans with their own rules, they could have bullshitted a reason as to why Gamora is suddenly in the present for the next Guardians movie.

Fat Thor was genuinely great, and I'm surprised he didn't pull an Alex -> Iskander moment when he charged up with lightning toward the end.

Captain Marvel pulled a fucking Poochie and it was hilarious.

Would have liked to have seen Hulk/Banner developing to the point that we see him in the movie rather than him already being there.]

    Poochie?
    Spoiler:
[As for round 2 against Thanos, it would've felt like unfinished business had he never been defeated. The Avengers got to avenge their loss again him.

I also expected Thor to get buff again somehow, but upon realizing that there'd be no timeskips that it was not to be. And Christ, Hulk Dab. That was more gloriously cursed than Fortnite.]

I enjoyed Paul Rudd as Audience Man

Was reading a post-release interview with the screenwriters where they were talking about how they originally wanted to have the Smart Hulk development in the first movie but there was no room, but then they couldn't squeeze in the lab scene in the second movie either so they just decided to drop him in a diner and hope it worked even though it wasn't ideal

I'll agree that it worked, but I still wanted more.

Actually, a plot kind of like Fallout: New Vegas' Sierra Madre DLC would have been neat. We had bits and pieces of that with how all the surviving members were coping with the events of Infinity War, and pulling off something like New Vegas spoiler[trapping the main antagonist, which past Thanos could have worked as too, in something like the Soul Gem while the Avengers skedaddle the fuck out of there] could have been neat to see.

By the way, the movie has been out for over a week now, so ima go ahead and make a note. After having worked hard to avoid spoilers, the theatre I went to was serving themed drinks based on the show.

one of the drink names was “Tony stark’s Demise.”

    So.
    much.
    stuff.

Overall though, I liked it a lot. Sure it was messy, IW was a way tighter movie for example.
But I don't much care about that.

This movie was a love letter to the MCU and I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Spoiler:
Thank you Tony, I love you 3000.

I'm on the side that liked the film. IMHO, more stuff to rejoice in than drawbacks.

Oh, please, he had so many death flags in the first movie he could have founded his own federation. Him surviving, now that would have been a big twist.

I actually legit believed Tony would survive cuz of his Daddy-oriented character arc.But the movie just side-stepped the whole thing with the 5-year timeskip, which I honestly didn't see coming, I thought it'd be a 1-year timeskip at most.

Well, just watched the movie. Some of the homages to previous MCU entries felt genuinely touching, and the climax was enjoyable enough, but overall, I felt it was overblown, badly-structured, uncreative and predictable. I think the only reason I'm not disappointed is that I went in without expecting much.

This and Infinity War really had no business being two separate movies.

I miss the days were people could release a four-and-a-half or five-hour epic right in theatres. The ones that were so long that they took cues from live theatre and had an interlude at the midway mark.
