OK, this is my first time doing shit like this, so please, be gentle. At least use machine oil for gods sakes. I'm going to use this thread for multiple things, Dares, Rants/Lectures, and Snippets that have nowhere else to go.

“Onii-chan…”
Shirou felt a tug at his sleeve as he cooked.
“Can we go into the city today?”
The voice was weak. Ilya looked up at him, big red eyes meeting his greying ones. Shirou’s glass heart broke slightly.
“Sure.”
---------------------------------
The walk into downtown Fuyuki was more a piggyback ride, as Ilya didn’t have the strength to walk that far anymore.
Their first stop was the mall. Ilya loved looking at the people passing by and gazing at the odd pair: a little pale white haired girl riding on the broad shoulders of a tall, bronze skinned and grey haired man. Shirou took her to a store he remembered, full of stuffed animals. He’d taken Saber here a year earlier. Ilya rushed in, and grabbed a teddy bear.
“Can I have it Shirou?”
“Sure.”
His heart broke more as he heard her attempt to stifle a cough in the stuffed animal, and a slight hint of red mist covered the back of the brown bear.
------------------------
The next stop was a local aquarium, Ilya still hugging the bear tightly to her chest. She seemed mesmerized by the fish behind the glass, gazing in wide eyed fascination at the scaly creatures as they swam around.
“Shirou, can you move close to the glass?”
He stepped forward, allowing Ilya to come face to face with a particularly large salmon.
“So this is what we ate yesterday?”
“Yeah. You haven’t seen fish before?”
“Not in person.”
It wasn’t the first time that Shirou remembered that despite the fact that she’d lived longer than him, Ilya had never seen the world outside the Einzbern castle until last year. His heart broke further.
------------------------------
A murmur came from the small body clutching a teddy bear and his neck. “Shirou, I’m tired. Can we stop in the park?”
It had been a long day. He’d taken Ilya everywhere he could think of, and a few places he didn’t even realized existed before.
“Sure.” He could feel it coming as took her too light body off of his shoulders, and set her down beside him on a park bench. The sun was setting, and the two gazed at the orange light it displayed as it sank.
“I’ve got to go Shirou. I have someone I want to see.”
The tears started falling, and the cracks in the heart of glass widened.
“Can’t you stay longer Ilya?”
“No. I need to see Kiritsugu.”
Her red eyes closed.
“I’ll tell him my little brother says hello.”
Shirou just sat in silence, feeling the beat of the little heart next to him stop.
And his heart of glass shattered, as he cried.
