Obsidian's homegrown fantasy cRPG project, on Kickstarter. They've not released too much information yet, but it's definitely promising, and even just a week after starting their project on Kickstarter they've got well over their base goal. With nearly a month left, it's possible this could get even higher; it's at $1,800,000 right now, and rising. Given the overall quality of Obsidian-developed games, with something they're totally in control of with no publishers involved, prospects are looking good.

The funding will end on October 16th, and the estimated release date for the game is Q1 2014, more specifically around April of that year. No date has really been set in stone, especially since the funding isn't even done with yet. Keep updated on the Kickstarter page (and maybe here, too) for news on Project Eternity.

I've personally pledged $35 to the development, and I'm hoping more people offer up their cold, hard, electronic cash as well. The more money this makes, the more Obsidian can add to the game!

Lots of QA is normally handled by the publisher, to my understanding. This means either that you're going to get even more than normal (Obsidian being inexperienced at that sort of thing), or that Obsidian will leap on the chance to do it themselves and actually fix most of it (especially if they don't have bugger around with deadlines).

Seeing as the Unity Engine isn't as deplorable as Gamebryo and when Obsidian got to do its own shit (Dungeon Siege 3) it turned out fine, I'm guessing it'll be pretty good.

Hey, I'll say it again: I never had any bugs with Fallout: New Vegas, even with mods installed everywhere.

They're going to do a beta somewhere along the line, so unless they pull a Blizzard that might fix things.

I pledged $20 basically as soon as I saw the kickstarter, and I'm guessing I'll end up getting my money's worth once the game is done. Probably would've pledged more, but I don't really have much in the way of income.

With the new almanac, $50 is very tempting. I went up to it. I was at $35 + $7 (cool walkthrough-y thing). So if I put up another $15 for the almanac, that takes me to the same as if I go plain $50 + the walkthrough, and I also get the extra little $50 bonuses.
