A lot of them are self-contained, though. Like, 00 and Iron-Blooded Orphans don't have any relation to one another, and even some of the ones within Universal Century don't require knowledge of the others in the setting like 08th MS Team or Thunderbolt. So you can often pick one and just go with that.
Anyway, in light of Persona 5's release, looking back, too bad it isn't the actual OP, because it would have been perfect.
Also since the thread hasn't been updated recently, there is, of course, the obligatory need for a hero.

I want to say to the beginning, or Ring Your Bell, because Kalafina is incomparable, but I can't discount ring of fortune from Plastic Memories.
Also, Haruhi Suzumiya, Hare Hare Yukai, I shamelessly love that. Though it may have something to do with having heard the Melodic Taste orchestral cover first.
Ready, Steady, Go was alright too, but on the other hand it was the only one of FMA's OP themes that I actually liked, so I may just be comparing it to its crappy competition.
