So when I started my job seven months ago, my role was part of a team where it didn't really fit, but that team was part of a hierarchy with the team I actually DID work alongside so it was worked more or less. Then there was a restructure, my team was absorbed into a totally different team and mostly broken up. Different hierarchy, I have even LESS to do with this team (they don't even understand what I do, which they admit). It's frustrating, but not so bad - they do know my position is important, word of my achievements has reached them, so they try to support me. However, it had been discussed for quite a while that I should really go into the other hierarchy with the team I actually deal with but never went through because of politics and blah blah.
Friday, while at drinks the other hierarchy's boss tells me he's bringing me into the team because it has needed to happen for a while, which I thought was great. This week I had a meeting about it, it's been confirmed to be going ahead and I'll be sitting with the people I actually work with. Plus, I'm getting a pay rise out of it. It looks like everything is coming up Saiga, but then I find out we've got an end of financial year ball coming up (June 23rd) and I'll be going to the new team's ball instead of the old team. And the old team was joining the ball of the team that the QT girl I like works for.
