Has anyone here used the book "Reading Greek"? I've tried asking Seika, but it seems she hasn't been active lately (and coupled with what she said about her work situation, I'm a bit worried about her, too).
Let me change tacks: anyone here knows Greek?
Deathhappens, but he is native iirc

That actually is an interesting viewpoint on why there is a gender divide. I always thought it was strange that there was a noticeable one and wondered if it was memetic. There are a number of male persons who come to this forum who have a vested interest in producing and/or reading literature, but in other places I've been on the internet that is viewed as a fairly feminine pursuit at this point. I have even had conversations with students, peers, and even my father about the idea that the Arts are somehow feminine. That too is strange given that the Arts used to be a privileged, masculine thing because men were the only ones for whom education and extensive literacy was often provided. I've read some feminist thinkpieces that have suggested that as Western society in particular shifts toward a profession, discipline, or art being more predominantly female that the society and system itself devalues it. Examples I can think of are the arts, crafts, and primary and secondary education (while higher ed is still quite male-dominated). Similar things are happening in the practice of law right now; more women graduate law school now, and the job market for them is being devalued and becoming more difficult to get into, etc.
Hmmm.... Sexy.

Imagine that the world is made out of love. Now imagine that it isn’t.
Imagine a story where everything goes wrong, where everyone has their back against the wall, where everyone is in pain and acting selfishly because if they don’t, they’ll die.
Imagine a story, not of good against evil, but of need against need against need, where everyone is at cross-purposes and everyone is to blame.
