I've come to the conclusion that I've been doing Halloween wrong. I should have elaborate anime displays.... especially Fate ones. Like a wood painted figure/mannequin of Atlanta shooting her bow. Or certain characters pressuring trick or treaters to eat Mabu-curry.

These solos aren't actually too hard. Most solos aren't anyway because it's just memorizing individual notes, so you don't need to know much technique. The harder parts of playing guitar are weird chord shapes and difficult changes, which don't usually happen in most solos. With enough practise even a relatively new guitarist can learn to play a solo pretty fluently, even if they look really complicated.

They're well above average difficulty, especially the Hotel California one, and he's executing them flawlessly.

If you've listened to something enough you've got a good idea of how it ought to sound. Then, knowing the notes, replicate that. It's mostly about knowing how something sounds and keeping that in mind as you play. Execution is just practise and that's just spending time playing over and over again. It's not about being good or bad at guitar. After all there's a reason why there are tons and tons of guitarists on YouTube doing covers of stuff.

Just practise whenever you can! You'll get there way sooner than you think.

I've been playing for eight years. I'm not saying the guy isn't good, but playing what he is there isn't beyond the average person's capabilities. I'm not a talented person in any way, shape, or form, but I was able to decently play solos like those after about a year of starting guitar. They aren't what's difficult about playing. Practise and memorization! I like solos, because they're extremely memorable - once you know how to play them, it's hard to forget.

Here's a good one I like to play, because the notes are very easy but the real learning of it is getting a feel for the timing between them:


I'm sure you can play stuff as well as that guy in the video with enough dedication! Not even like hours and hours constantly, just like an hour a day, even less, whatever fits into your schedule. I'm so glad YT is a thing now and there are tutorials and tabs everywhere, I'd die without them.

Back when I practiced (keyboards, not guitar) I used Guitar Pro. Have you heard of it? The sound quality isn't good since it uses .midi, but it's great for practice.

At this point I feel like I should clarify that I didn't mean "you will never be this good" literally, but thanks for the encouragement. I'm trucking along.
