It's even more unnerving to find out that hospitals in Japan just, like, close like normal businesses and aren't open on weekends and holidays so don't get hurt at new years unless you want to bleed out for a few days

A bit of an exaggeration; there are emergency facilities that provide 24 hour service and if you call an ambulance they'll take you to one, but if you try to go to your local hospital after hours chances are nobody's gonna be home.
