but realtalk, if you're dealing with a semi-feral cat (the kind that are familiar with human exposure but stray and undomesticated), the easiest way to "catch" them is to leave food out for them every day and eventually start putting the food in a crate which you can then close behind them after they get comfortable enough going in to get the food. Then follow Mattias' advice about keeping them inside for like a month.

A feral cat will always be at least a little feral though, so if you're hoping to keep it as a pet, that should be a consideration.

My cat (the aforementioned barn cat) used to get in so many fights at night that even years after he died the neighborhood cats would use our yard as their proving grounds. Makes it real hard to sleep when literal catfights are happening right outside your window at 2am.

My old cat that ran away used to fight with my sister's cat all the time. You'd wake up at either 1am or 3am hearing them fighting on the backyard fence that usually led to one of them falling and taking the fight to the streets. That white haired bastard would chase my sister's cat out of the house sometimes. When he wasn't doing that he was either hunting squirrels or chilling with the family dog. Despite his hostility to other animals, he was always extremely timid around my family. It was weird how he could stare down a dog three times his size but ran away whenever someone tried to pet him.

Edit: Though seriously if I had to rely on my cooking to win someone, I'll be screwed as 90% of my recipes are sweets, 5% some type of ramen, stir fry, or fried food, and 1% are alcohol.
