The results of my study are in.
I had noticed that Old Spice High Endurance seemed to be more effective than Speed Stick (non-antiperspirant). Specifically, I was applying Speed Stick in up to seven down-and-up motions under each arm and I would still notice odor by the end of the day, while with Old Spice I would apply only four or five down-and-up motions and noticed little or no odor. This suggested to me that Old Spice was a better buy even if the price was half again higher because each stick should last approximately 1.56 to 1.75 times as long.
To test this idea, I wrote the date that I opened a 3-ounce Speed Stick on the cap and used it in the accustomed fashion, then when it ran out, did the same with a 3-ounce Old Spice.
Surprisingly, the Speed Stick lasted 37 days, while the Old Spice lasted 42. This is a ratio of barely 1 to 1.14.
I can think of only one explanation, which is that more Old Spice is applied per motion. This phenomenon is possibly due to Old Spice having a softer consistency.
That being said, I still found the Old Spice more effective, which goes some way toward justifying its higher price.
