If it makes you feel better, I certainly wasn't insulting you.
More or less. Beyond each containing a moment of the other - which i admit i should have clarified some more - there's also the problem of the historical epoch. New modes of consumption have developed [mobage are a prime example] within which the curative/transformative dichotomy no longer makes sense. The dialectic has moved on.

I endear the notion of the "anti-" archetype but only to the degree that it bears substance. There's a sort of inauthenticity in many of the things that I've seen that drives me away from a simple appreciation. It seems to me to be the "anti"-idol in the form of a "shitposting" valley girl and I find typical examples, however mediocre, as being more charming than that of an inauthentic "authentic". My initial exposure to her was on Tumblr where I was introduced to her schtick by way of "uwu, she's not like the other idols, she's a shitposting bisexual queen". I found slight interest in the notion of an idol from the states gaining popularity, but the fact that the "americanness" invades her public persona is kind of a bore. That is not to say that one should mindlessly adhere to the ideal, but rather that the manner in which she executes it, at least from my perspective, is a mediocre way of going about it.
I'm not interested in the v-tuber thing of hers, and I found the "menbure" joke in that video of hers as being less of a joke and more of an awkward cry for help, but if she has any talents besides pure "personality" I'll possibly endeavor to appreciate her creative side in the future. It seems like it could be promising.

Who's the cutest of them all.
Going on a tangent, I've seen Act (from Dragon Quill) propose that fanfiction writers tend to skew female because the original works tend to not appeal specifically to them - i.e., no non-heteronormative sex or heteronormative sex where female sexuality is taken into consideration, no female characters in a position of prominence, etc.* -, thus encouraging them to play much looser with canon, whereas those works tend to cater specifically to the heretosexual male crowd, which in turn tends to be much more restrictive with canon.
* ETA: For clarity's sake, the explanation is mine, not hers.
Sorry for going on a tangent, but I was reminded of that by what you just said, and I think it makes a lot of sense - particularly in, say, the recent behaviours of the Ghostbusters and Star Wars fandoms.
Cripes, Dullahan, you could pull your punches some!

Girls only like gay sex?
...Argh, I mixed things up! Sorry. I meant to say "non-heteronormative sex or heteronormative sex where female sexuality is taken into consideration". I'll edit the original post.
