This reminds me, a lot of people gave Apoc shit about its animation in the big fight scenes but the direction at least was top notch. Characters noticeably emoted all the time and not just when they were the focus. And they weren't afraid to take liberties with the "camera" here and there; Chiron and Achilles' fistfight was great but the scene where Jack tries to sneak attack Kairi and we see her coming up behind him while he's talking really made me stop and go "well damn, why don't we see more of that in movies these days?".

Also while I've never played baseball, I suck at catching stuff thrown at me so I'd rather be a pitcher rather than a catcher, thank you

I disagree that the directing was good. Angery cat vs. Jeanne and Sieg vs. Karna were at least more kinetic and vibrant, but I'd not call them particularly well-directed.

That scene feels like the best representation of Presence Concealment to date imo

I disagree that the directing was good. Angery cat vs. Jeanne and Sieg vs. Karna were at least more kinetic and vibrant, but I'd not call them particularly well-directed.

I wasn't a fan of Sieg vs Karna personally, it fell victim to the Ufo complex of trying to make a fight "epic" bt exaggerating everything: huge explosions with vibrant colors dominating the screen, over the top motions, overstated expresssions... Sieg vs Amakusa was better, although by that point budget and animator fatigue were both taking a toll. I'll stick to Chiron vs Achilles, maybe Karna v. Astolfo at a stretch.

Nyalter versus Jeanne was unfortunately sidelined too much to have a proper impact, I can barely remember it at all.

Yeah, that fight was awful. Best fight of Apocrypha was Achilles versus Chiron for me. No hugely flashy special effects or explosions, just two epic heroes duking it out with their pride and ideals on the line.

I didn't like Siegfried vs. Karna or the other one I mentioned either, but I enjoyed them the most out of all Apo fights because the animators got more freedom to do whatever and they at least featured enough movement where I could pretend to be excited. Chiron vs. Achilles was good in terms of writing, but the background was distracting.

Face it, 99% of devs develop games with the Normal difficulty in mind and just make every enemy bulletspongier/ give the AI cheats on higher difficulties. There are games where Hard or harder difficulty actually provides a better experience (F.E.A.R. was a good one for its time) but they're pitifully few and far between.
