So, those still shots of Haven really ruined the atmosphere. It's like the opposite of bad CG in an anime, but has the same "take you out of the moment" effect.

Did anybody else feel the airship fight in episode 2 could've been way more awesome? I can't help but think if Monty was still around Weiss would've been hopping around from island to island doing all kinds of crazy midair acrobatics. Instead she spends most of her time in the cargo hold flinging magic attacks which, while a sensible strategy is hardly the kind of crazy awesome stuff that Rwby was known for.
More positively, I really liked the remix of Mirror, Mirror shown in this episode. The lyrics fit the story arc of a character from a completely different series I've been following (Hearthstone from the Magnus Chase novels) so well it's kind of scary. I guess "child struggling to get out of the footsteps of their cold, emotionally dominating father" is a pretty tried-and-true story arc so it's not too surprising...
