Action's better than last season's pitiful effort, but still not as smooth as when Monty was behind it. By the OP it looks like this season is going to build up Ozpin's backstory and the other headmasters. And Neo's alive and a ninja now.

Yeah, seems to be the case. Also, I do hope this season also nails the plot better and doesn't end on an anti-climax. Obviously, this is connected to better action scenes, which I can only hope make a comeback.

True, but based on how souls work, as long as part of it is still present, well I assume the person is still alive. This is another matter entirely, but whatever, Cinder's alive, and that's that.
