Okay, so I'll admit that I'm not fond of it from the waist down.
At all.
But it doesn't look TOO bad.

It suits the 'Knight of Treachery'.
Let the victor...be justice.

It's the difference in their personalities. And that's not similar at all.
The difference arises in the fact that Nasu Mordred seems to be along the lines of "I wanted Father to accept me" and that kind of similar feelings whereas the Heather Dale Mordred was brought up with hatred and anger being his only teachers and the sole purpose of his existence being "To kill his father, Arthur".
That's the reason.
As for the genderbend, I don't care about that here (It was obvious Mordred would be female the moment Arthur became Arturia, if he was a man it would've been weird), it's also true that there might be someone out there who completely idolizes Mordred and might feel confused/mad at him getting such a drastic change, so don't call it 'silly'. :3

Nasu Mordred was basically brought up by her mother to hate Arthur as well though. She was told she'd be King and the only one worthy of succeeding her father, and he would recognize that, but it seems quite obvious to me that she predicted and expected Arthur to reject Mordred as heir, sowing the seeds of hatred in Mordred's heart through which she and her child could obtain their vengeance against the King.
Mordred's feelings about Arthur also seem to border between hatred and admiration in a fairly erratic manner due to conflict. Her circumstances are more than just a little against her, so it's understandable how things ended up the way they did.
Yeah but that's it you see. Nasu!Mordred actually admired Arthur and wanted acceptance from him/her the most (Rather than revenge). It's that acceptance issue what has led to her wish being a chance at pulling the sword out of the rock.

Mordred was brought up to hate Arthur/Arturia, too, under the pretext that Arthur stole Morgan's ( and by extension, Mordred's ) birthright and wronged her, but Mordred didn't quite follow the plan once she joined Camelot and met the king, because she saw that the King of Knights was perfect and felt admiration for him/her.
Morgan then changed plans and told Mordred who her real father was. Mordred was elated and couldn't wait to tell daddy, but due to miscommunication or whatever Arturia rejected her as her son/daughter. And then Mordred lost her marbles and Morgan was all like: "keikaku doori".

Basically what Polly said. The admiration for Arturia was something Mordred grew all of her own, that Morgan turned into a weapon by revealing the truth to her, expecting her half-sister to reject Mordred and turn that admiration into hatred.
It worked.
Though, it wasn't like Arturia reject Mordred as her child - from what I understood, Arturia simply meant that she didn't have the requirements to replace her.
Then again, knowing Arturia, that might've been an answer derived from her "lonely and perfect king" mentality and maybe, just maybe, also not wanting to pass such a burden to anyone else.
