E-peen.
Yeah Commie was the first group to take a shot at translating it (I think), theres also 3-5 other people that have made large amounts of progress, but McJon is the only one who has actaully released anything
The translation is bad as the one who did it wasn't that good at english when it was made. A lot of people are good as editors, but not so much when you may as well need a complete retranslation of everything for it to be more or less good, besides the QC. The editors that tried to work on it gave up anyway as they thought it was easy and not that much work.
IMO, a mahoyo english TL is pretty much a meme now. lol
It'll happen eventually. We said much the same about HA.
Help McJon in his romcom life and we assuredly shall get what we wanted.
Something
The individual haven't had worked on anything english-related since a long time ago at that point (funny enough some other guy was in the same situation, but didn't do anything, AFAIK). Sure, it was overestimation in the end anyway, as not even a native JP speaker can help if everything ends up being nonsensical engrish.
What most people thought about mahoyo is that it would be that easy to translate, even with a good editor. I mean, chapters 7 to 11 are hard if you don't really know some Nasu gibberish and prose, unless you want pseudo-translated stuff that doesn't really have the essence of the work, which would be more or less what Commie has and a lot of people want released for anyone else to work on (which is a bad idea anyway).
So, the only means for your salvation also results in your doom?
Truly a meme.
So many localization companies and none of them are even trying to localize a TM VN.
Shame.
inb4 yeah it's expensive but I think the fanbase is big enough to make it worth it (if muv luv kickstarter raised $1m...).
Eggplant doesn't trust anyone to translate his works, thats why only 3rd party TM works are translated officially.
