Heads up, Kayneth does indeed know who Lancer is but he is not completely aware of his abilities and such just yet.

Okay. Then we'll have Kayneth order Lancer to reveal all of his abilities and such to fill out that pretty little book all Masters have the tells them Servant stats. Because that's only logical. From there, we'll proceed with the scouting plan, ordering Lancer not to engage any potential enemy or reveal any abilities.
Alright so at the moment the plan is to have Lancer display his stats followed by going off to scouting alone leaving Kayneth by himself at the hotel, I'll give you guys 30 more minutes to do any last second planning.
Does the story only follow Kayneth?
In other words, if Lancer goes scouting and runs into Saber or something, would we be following him, or do we just sit with Kayneth until Lancer comes back.
He never sleeps. He never dies.
Battle doesn't need a purpose; the battle is its own purpose. You don't ask why a plague spreads or a field burns. Don't ask why I fight.
Nah it would follow Lancer if he has anything important to do (Such as a fight or other important scene), if there is nothing though it would just be a summary of the events that he went through.
Spoiler:
What Fate/Stay Night character are you?
Kotomine Kirei
You are Kirei. You've always been a little different from the rest. You probably have low social skills. Whatever, it's not like what they think matters anyway. Ever searching for something missing within you, you probably don't experience the same happiness as everyone else. Good and evil are just labels, you are who you are.
Alright so I'm thinking about going ahead with the story, that ok with everyone?
Hmm I think I like doing choices a lot better then free roaming, also makes it easier for other people to participate. I'll give this one about a day this time as I got work tomorrow so feel free to pick an option and roll with it. I'm also pretty sure I got all of Kayneth's knowledge of the war down but if I missed anything feel free to point it out.
@Milbunk: Kayneth ought to also be aware of Kirei's status as a Master, since canonically there are records of his apprenticeship and then "separation" from Tokiomi.
Let the victor...be justice.
Ah right thanks.

Let's follow canon for now and see what happens. This is a good time for Kayneth to see Lancer's capabilities in-person.

In light of provided reasonings, I'm changing my vote.

Fighting Saber first was what woke up Lancer's Chivalric boner. Canonically, without it, he would've been perfectly willing to go through the war using dirty tactics, softening enemies up with Gae Buidhe and then letting Berserker finish them off before killing Berserker himself. Going after Arturia is the last thing we want to do. Better to fight the big, slow guy who looks kinda familiar.

Teasing the Penguin God!
Aw, here I was hoping for our mystery Caster.

We know how powerful Alexancer could have been. It's why he was our first choice. Best to eliminate him as soon as possible before he has a chance to get a lay of the land or forge alliances

He'd beat Berserker in a straight fight and that's about it. He'd also win against Saber if he uses Eye of the Mind and Gae Buidhe to seal off Excalibur. I guess he might also beat the Assassins depending on how he does against 80 of them at once. Anyone else? He'll probably lose. With Rider he stands a chance as long as no one pulls out IH.
That's like straight out of the Materials Collections or Nasu interviews.
Doesn't need to necessarily be WIN AT ALL COSTS though. We could be friends with Rider or something.
