Surely Notes is nothing special for Nasu, it's not like he named his company after it, or their main brand after a character in it.
Yup, Type Moon is such a prominent character in Notes that his existence is never even mentioned or alluded to.
Nasu names his company after what was essentially a preview and/or side bit to a story he never published and named the brand after a character that originally only existed as extra inconsequential setting info and has since only been tangentially important. Truly this was a sign for how things were going to go down from the start. It's really only our own fault for not getting the message if we don't like the current state of things.

Pretty sure Mcjon is alluding to how TM is never mentioned in notes outside of Character Material... (which contains the majority of the information about Notes anyways)
Nothing more than Mcjon just said. type:moon is never ever mentionned in Notes.
There is Notes which is a short story he wrote and then there is the Land of Steel which is a setting of which most of the info comes from Character Material, Notes happens to take place in said setting. I think he was planning to call the main story if he ever wrote it to be called 1999 X Overdrive or something like that.

Sounds like X/1999. Guess that's why it was never published, it would probably be stuck in the same development hell that X is/was.
Setting is Overcount 1999.

Misaki in 1999/2000/whatever is a setting. Earth/Gaia is the world.
Mifune in 1995-1999 is a setting. Earth/Gaia is the world.
Shikura in 2003-2005 is a setting. Earth/Gaia is the world.
The World Tree(s) during Overcount 1999 is a setting. Land of Steel is the world.

All of those on the right hand side are also settings in a larger sense, you usually just don't specify Earth as a setting except maybe in sci fi.
Anyway, now everyone knows not to call the entirety of Overcount 1999 or whatever we're supposed to call it Notes. Hopefully this has been helpful to someone.

I wrote out this long theory that was wondering what Overcount 1999 (as in as a year) means which pretty much turned into mean monologueing about the dark six. destroying the world like in EXTRA and then arguing dates about when ORT arrived on Earth. derp.
So yeah, I deleted it because otherwise I would never have replied at all like I usually do when I write up long stupid posts.
