I liked it. It was one of the first anime titles I got my hands on, and I liked it.
Then I watched KnK and noticed similarities in the "Death lines" concept, and it was the first time that I ever got curious about author/studio stuff. That's how I learned about TM and got into it.
Maybe it's lower than people's expectations were, maybe it didn't portray anything, or changed the style too much, but it was fine to me. I watched it, I liked it, that's all I care about.

Pretty much the same thing.
I liked it then.
I still like it now, probably because it's one of the first anime I watched.
Ive actually never seen it; just watched the opening video on youtube, read how much it was hated and how it changed the characters and decided to use the time otherwise.
It's alright if you don't compare it to the game, but it's no bowl of Special K.
The characters are flattened, indistinct pancake versions of their much quirkier original selves.
Also the animation sucks.

I've tried watching the non-existent anime, but gave up halfway through the first episode. Sucked too much.
