He, Isshiki and the third seat were never approached by Azami at all about replacing Senzaemon, so they were blindsided like everyone else. In protest of Azami's policies he stopped attending meetings and got kicked out, though those two events are probably unrelated.

We saw him, Isshiki and the other guy get called in by Someone to do Something, which appears to be helping the first years.

I see I see. At first, I was wondering what kind of cheap trick are they going to pull to beat the elites, but this is ok I guess.

Beating the elites should be far beyond their capabilities, assuming they're going up against the real elite ten and not provisional members like Akira. I don't think anyone said they have to win, so right now I'm assuming they're being tested on how well they can do rather than having to win outright. It might even make a kind of sense if Azami spins it as him testing the rebels to see who's worthy to take the open spots or get promoted next year.

I'll be pretty disappointed if I'm wrong and the likes of Megumi or Yuki can beat even Eizan, let alone Rindou or Tsukasa.
