Good Fire Emblems are an extremely rare breed but I'm rooting for it
Echoes's art is the best I've seen so far, vast improvement even when compared to Fates and Awakening
I'm looking for a relatively easy game to ease me into the gameplay of the older Fire Emblem games. Anyone have any ideas?
Fire Emblem 7 (Blazing Sword/Blade) is also pretty good for newcomers. It's harder than 8, but it features a pretty good tutorial and is still relatively easy.
I never played it on console in the first place, I just emulated it (rip audio)
If you're looking for an easy FE game, start with 7 or 8. Unless RNGesus decides you're not worth the time, the stat growth there is insane when compared to other FE games.
If you're looking for something a little harder, try starting at Shadow Dragon.
On the topic of difficulty though, what's everyone's opinion of the two latest FE games in the main series? Aside from the casual mode, are the games sufficiently difficult for you guys?
Revelations Fates > Nohr Fates > Awakening > Birthright Fates, imo
also go directly from sacred stones to thracia
"Refreshingly challenging" isn't the words I'd use for chapter 10. Other than that insane chapter though, Conquest was pretty fun to strategize on.
Revelations felt a little underwhelming after that, but the story was at least on par with Conquest. Have no opinion on Birthright though, as I haven't gotten around to buying that yet. Though I probably have no reason too now that Shadow of Valencia is close to release.
