Because they obviously have only two or three character traits, which are played up as much as possible in pretty much every single conversation?

The strategy on Normal is to advance, end your turn, press start to skip enemy turn, and see if any opponents are left alive.

Then run around stabbing the billion asshole archers that won't die from melee counterattacks.

Or run nos-tanks and watch the entire enemy camp die, regardless of range aside from ballistas.

Best FE character is Oliver btw. There's no surpassing him in insane awesomeness.

I was pretty surprised when he returned and when I accidentally recruited him because I was curious about the battle conversation with Reyson it was even better.

The fact that he decides to betray the entire council and Ashera because they were getting in the way of beauty was too perfect.

I also love how if you have him talk to Sephiran he's so bold about it.

To be honest most characters in a FE game are pretty one dimensional but having someone like Oliver appeared was actually pretty refreshing, or at least I thought so, especially in the second game that's where he really shines.

B-but Gaius gives cute nicknames and what I found really endearing is how he actually handcrafts the rings for his wife in each support and you can see him care more about each character a lot, he goes out of his way to do things for other people and appreciates them too. I do agree why the fuck he had to hold candy on the Cg though.

Ja, Fire Emblem 7 (Blazing Sword) is a good one to start the series with. Characters, Gameplay & storywise.
