It's lame sounding but I get why they did it, since the three factions represent the three romantic seasons that the original poetical title was a reference to but Westerners wouldn't get.
Like, I have nightmares about having to localize shortass character titles that have longass meanings.
Localizationing stuff
I get the reasoning but its a mismatched since the JP versions hint at 4 factions instead of three. Furthermore the name refers to things that are beautiful but ephemeral - a common phrase in most East Asian country. This meaning is totally lost by translating it to Three Houses, pretty much kill all romanticism attached to the phrase. It makes the title sound very soulless and dry.
Then again i cant think of a good English name for it either. So there is that.

The characters feel alive and interact with each other more thanks to support conversations, whereas muh class VII is a bunch of Rean stans with minimal meaningful interaction with characters other than Rean and their designated counterpart if theyre lucky enough to have such. Which is crazy considering how much longer you spend with class VII than any of the houses.
