I don't think Awakening is an amazing game by any means but I've noticed that it's much more fun to replay than the older entries in the series. Probably because the maps are so quick to roll through.

For me it's the complete opposite, because Awakening is pretty much just enemy spam without any great maps, I'd prefer to replay the older games that I've already played a bunch of times.

I'd rather play Fire Emblem 4, which features one of my pet peeves with most of the Fire Emblem games that mounts are too good and I don't want to play so many huge maps, but that might not be as bad. Got spoiled on some parts of the story. Followed after that I'd rather play Thracia which seems to lack a good translation or at least that's what I gathered and it builds up on 4 so I'd need to do that first.

I'm glad that you can find enjoyment out of the game though. I guess it's just not my cup of tea and I'm a bit salty because I invested in the dlc, because they were on sale, before I finished the game.... I just wanted Roy, Lyn and the other old character redesigns.

Yet lords like Hector exist and they have added two bland sword-wielding MCs.

It also annoys me that they once again focus on those games, just like Tokyo Mirage Sessions, but now with the addition of Fates because it wasn't out yet back then.

Once I saw that Heroes acknowledged the existence of older characters I once again dared to be hopeful for Warriors, despite it showing off only Marth's Falchion and the 3ds weapons. I'd have liked to at least have all the Lords, because their fighting styles differ and so do their weapons even if they're all just swords and even then most got some sort of secondary weapon type. Then maybe they could add relevant characters for those games as their own characters or even better just use a class system and have the default ones be from characters of those games and have alternative costumes with voice lines either be unlockable or through DLC for other characters from those classes.

I'm worried that DLC characters may not see much use aside from "for fun", because in Hyrule Warriors most of the time in Adventure mode I was locked to certain characters and the only relevant DLC characters were the ones you got for free with the Villains. So even if I for example really liked Young Link I couldn't use him most of the time. Also leveling all those got annoying, but that's besides the point. I really hope that they won't use something like that again, because while it's an awesome idea... Being forced to use characters that you don't like to play makes it all the more grating over time. For example I just started despising Agitha missions in particular, but there were quite a few characters I found to be tedious to play but to beat the DLCs I bought I had to use them. I don't mind stepping out of my comfort zone sometimes, but after a while it got grating that some things just weren't unlockable unless I used those characters.

I talked about that though? Unless it's Legends, which I haven't played, all those characters aren't even useful in Adventure mode most of the time, except just for fun because if you want to unlock something you need to use a certain character and sometimes you can only use that character anyways.

I never even used the free Medli, partially because you need to level her and because I need to unlock her skills and because she's never useful for a map. So I hope that there won't be something like Adventure mode that forces characters on you.

I think I'd have enjoyed it more if I didn't need to use the entire cast and could just choose who to use. Still at least I got pretty decent with most characters, but I still hate playing Agitha just as much 300 hours in as in the beginning of the game.
