I haven't played anything other Awakening and Fates but I think the self-insert avatars are really poorly done.

They are. That's why the older games were better imo, no oc donut steel tactician. Rather it's the characters making decisions and facing consequences.

Ironically, I used to think that the tactician in 7 would have made more sense as a full character involved in the story. Little was I to know...

Honestly I've never felt that either Corrin or Robin were "oc self inserts" because of the way they were written. IS clearly gave them distinct personalities and limits the player's ability to dictate their actions. You get no where NEAR the freedom of games like Dragon Age and Skyrim. They only thing you can really customize is their appearance. For all intents and purposes, they might as well be just another character.

Depending on which Lloyd you mean I can get behind that idea. I'm going to assume you mean the member of the Black Fang and not the bandit and I would like to field him, but if I can obtain my dream team I'd already be drowning in sword users so I'll need to rotate them.

Oh my bad, none of the gay bandit brothers are listed. I didn't really notice that, since I don't care much for them although Rose and Maggie were kinda funny or am I thinking about the ones from Fire Emblem 7. Probably not, because then I'd remember their names.

But that's just it, FE doesn't still exists, Awakening still exists, because Awakening sold gangbusters and now they're styling everything based on that. I'd truly and honestly rather that the series had ended relatively strong with RD than see it dragged through the mud like this.

I mean fuck, our best hope for a good Fire Emblem game at the moment is a remake of fucking GAIDEN. You know, that game that was a burning trash fire?
