You forget that Konami is based on a society that overworks and abuses it's employees so hard, Inemuri is an actual thing. under such circunstances this thing is still evil, but probably seen as nothing more that Konami being "Extra strict" compared to their peers, I don't even want to know what Jap game companies do to their employees on a regular basis for crunchtime.

Nope, but at the same time when passing out at your desk from exaustion is seen as a good thing from the perspective of your employer don't be surprised when they also treat you like the dirt on their shoes, this isn't the first I've heard of horrible working conditions at jap game companies, I still remember when those corporate bastards were so scared of other companies stealing their talent that they used to issue a brand new randomized e-mail address to their entire staff at regular monthly intervals just so that communication with people outside said company was a bitch.

Well yes. In fairness it is mostly on the decline in the games industry which is all I give a shit about. That's why this Konami thing is notable, the traditional Japanese models have been on decline in the industry, especially these last 3-4 years where you have so many people jumping ship. ...Well I suppose Konami is trying to jump out of the industry as a company so it's fitting.

Down to 5.6m subs.

This is the lowest it's been at since about mid 2006late 2005, of course that was during a time of growth, and this is during a time of decline.
