I've only read the full volume and not the old April Fools text, so I couldn't tell you every change. One notable addition is the introduction of Francesca in the Caster/Orlando prologue.

I think the manga has that part. i guess we can just wait for manga translations for that dialogue

I checked it once and I think that the whole Francesca scene is the only new addition to the old stuff in the TM Ace 2 book, with some corrections here and there (like changing the references of 60 years ago to 70 years) and minor word changes. Of course, the old "Player" chapter was also replaced with the "Observer", "Act 1" and "Prologue VII" chapters.

It's even funnier because Flat is now Van Fem's buddy after the whole event.

Also, the Flat vs. Flatt returned?

I think I might have forgotten which one I settled on and used both spellings lol. I will go back through and unify them later.

    there's only one フラット anyway.

Huh. That was pretty enjoyable to read. The writing style (not sure how much it's Narita's versus the translator's) is simple, but easy to understand and manages to establish detail and dramatic flourishes without bogging down the reader. Definitely "light novel" type writing. At this rate, I might check out the author's earlier chapters too. Out of curiosity, do you have any idea how often Narita updates this thing?

    3 things:

1- can you give us a brief rundown of what Francesca and Orlando talked about? was it just "molest the holy virgin"?

2- does Francesca have a zipper made of teeth in her belly or not? i think deadfish said this some months ago

3- why exactly is the first thing Saber does after being summoned is fire off his NP? to just kill one random guy? wouldn't it be a lot easier to just move in the blink of an eye and cut him in half?

  7. #2827
Best Saber was actually fighting Assassin, who killed the guy who was going to summon Saber in the first place.

I think we agreed here with Flat because of the PV and Waver's dislike of that word in Case Files.

No, this is not exactly what is meant by "light novel." Proper Japanese prose is very literary and requires actual education to read in terms of overall diction, grammar etc. Light novels are supposed to be in plainer language that younger readers can access. You can't always detect this through a translation since, if the translator did their job, the end product should be readable regardless. (unless the aim was to reproduce it even in spirit, but that's outside the realm of low effort amateur translation)

Narita's overall writing is more simple in FSF, yes. I guess you can partly attribute that to his personal style, but like I said you can't see everything that makes a light novel "light" in translation. People debate whether to call Zero a light novel because even though it was fantasy/scifi subject matter typical to the LN genre, Urobuchi has a certain dense style.

I think they are targeting a yearly release, vol3 due this summer but someone should confirm because I forget where I read that.

    Thanks for the translations.

Welp, driving out the fakes once Saber is summoned. O.O

So that means Saber is the Grim Reaper that they wanted to ignite a True one...

That sounds creepy in all sorts of ways, given that the deductions of Waver may be right on this one.

Also, I laughed way hard than I should at Flatt's former feats and Caster's eloquent deductions and ways to get it. XD

btw I think someone has mentioned it before, but most/all of the high-ranking young magi that are described as Waver's former students have the same surnames as the mercenary magi hired to be Masters of Red in Fate/Apocrypha.

So they are very likely relatives. And the Red Masters are probably supposed to be pretty badass, but lol too bad for them

What a pity our buddy Flat will have to fight his old classmates.

At least we'll finally get to see their magecraft in action. I'm especially keen on seeing how the Pentels work.

Definitely makes you wonder what Ayaka's real purpose in Snowfield is. Does she refer to Servants or the Entire Grail War when she says "You Lot"? Does she work for someone? So many mysteries all wrapped up...

FYI it's a plural "you" in Japanese. I wanted to make it clear.
