That's rather scary.
My Fanfics. Read 'em. Or not.McJon01: We all know that the real reason Archer would lose to Rider is because the events of his own Holy Grail War left him with a particular weakness toward "older sister" types.
It's being passed in my country!! Why, why are we the first!?!??!?!!?
Coming into effect in September. ;_;
Meh, it won't make any actual difference, I would imagine. People will just get around it, and it'll get repealed when a bunch of pensioners ask why they're being sued for torrenting "lesbian spank inferno 4", or whatever....
Not that it's not total bullshit, of course, but it's still not actually going to stop piracy.
A gigantic step backwards.
Though such typical politics to take advantage of an urgent situation to pass a controversial bill without much debate.
Wait, I just read that article properly.
I can't believe that they'd actually abuse an earthquake that killed hundreds or thousands of people for their own politcal ends (well, OK, I can, but the fact that I have that little faith in the people who run the world is even more depressing...).
Aww man.
I get a feeling Australia is going to use this as a precedent to push our illegal downloading legislation through the Houses.
Wow..... sucks to be there once that law actually occurs. But I've seen a few worse things.
It's easy to believe in ideals, but it's harder to keep them when things go bad.

So, yeah. Fuck.
This kind of thing sets a precedent, just like back when freaking Ulrich went after Napster. I sense more headaches on the way...
Censorship has really started to get bad recently.
There was that legislation that passed in Tokyo about publishing media that glorified crime, violence, anti-government behavior, sex, and basically made it illegal to make photos of minors public, not to mention put restrictions on internet usage of minors through their cellphones.
There's the death of our own site. Old BL, you will be missed.
A lot of the hentai are trying to expunge certain types of hentai.
A lot of the fiction sites are actually starting to hunt for erotica to kill.
And now this monster?
What's up with this sudden burst of censor activity? Did I miss a memo somewhere?

It's just corporate institutions trying to force consumers to buy their products when they otherwise wouldn't have spent that money anyway. Stupid, right?
I'm sure Mike can elaborate on this better than I can, as I'm choking with rage right now.
Proxies don't matter, if your internet connection itself is disconnected.
Instead, you'd have to find some sort of black market, such as, I dunno, someone setting up someway to help you steal internet without being noticed.
Which is probably much more difficult than stealing satellite TV.
...D:
They do matter if you use them before you get disconnected....
Well, indeed. I would assume that there would be ways around it, though. Hell, could you not just change company, or even claim to have moved house?Instead, you'd have to find some sort of black market, such as, I dunno, someone setting up someway to help you steal internet without being noticed.

It's pretty much a country-wide piece of legislation - all ISPs are required to abide by it, so changing companies isn't going to help it.
Also, claiming that you moved house isn't going to be very convincing if the power bills are still in your name and are being paid.
Meh, the government can be tricked. Plus, I'm sure plenty of people will be looking for ways around it. And, it's not like the ISPs have any reason to do any more than the government forces them to do.
Someone will find a loophole soon enough.
