Contrary to most play by post RP sections ours is quite a bit more self aware. Basically less evrrybody trying to be a 12 year old immortal half vampire half angel and more like a cozy tabletop playergroup.

Just do what any D&D group does when one player is absent, rope his character to a horse and have it drag him around for the sessions until he gets back.
Oh dear lord, It's funny only because it's true. Although kind of sad how slow the RP section moves sometimes and when one I'm interested in turns up I'm always about five minutes too late to get a slot. ;_;
