Somehow this chapter has made me ship Eva/Touta. I don't even know how it did that.

As for Touta being Negi's supposed grandson, well, 'grandfather' can be interpreted any number of ways. It could mean Negi is either Touta's actual biological grandfather (so either Setsuna/Konoka sank as a pairing, or they asked their teacher for a sperm donation... either or), or it can mean he was considered an honorary grandfather to the family due to his connection to Konoka. Either way it seems too early to tell yet.

And that flashback Eva had to two years ago... somehow I don't think Touta's parents actually died in a car accident.

In any event, the first chapter was interesting. I hesitate to call it good, but there's some real potential here.

Also, wasn't Negi supposed to be pseudo-immortal too? I distinctly remember that part, him using Magia Erebea and the other Dark Magic was also supposed to do something similar.

This chapter made a pretty big deal about the difference between immortality and invincibility, what with their talk about the jellyfish. It's probably an implication for the fact that Negi became immortal, but he wasn't invincible. He could still be killed.

Assuming he's dead, obviously. I personally am not assuming anything at this point until we're further in and there's some hard evidence that he died.

Eva's monologue at the beginning seems to imply that everyone she knew has passed on, though. Unless for some reason Negi is either hiding from her or not in contact with her, which I doubt she'd take very kindly.

Eva and Touta remind me a lot of Kiss-shot and Ararararagi from Monogatari. If MC is Negi's grandson, then where is the established granddaughter? I want to see Chao being a badass again, without having to reread the MSN Festival arc.

b) Negi's kid could've taken the Konoe name, which wouldn't be surprising given Eishun. Thus, the names tells us absolutely fuck-all. Amazing how that works. :V

I'm pretty sure Chao was like, Negi's grandchild in that one specific timeline where her future was a huge mess and she wanted to fix it. When Negi actually took steps to solve the problem, he probably caused a chain of events that prevented her birth.

Or alternatively she's been born into this canon as well and for some reason is either a) unaware of Touta for reasons or b) not related to Touta at all, which would bring up a whole host of new questions.

Or c) she knows Touta exists but for whatever reason has not sought him out.

Well... they did say Touta lost his memories prior to the accident, so it would seem a little weird to me if they told him Negi was his grandfather if they actually weren't biologically related.

That could just be me thinking too much about it.

On second thought, what happened to Eva's 'quest' to go off into the multiverse and try to snag a Nagi Springfield for herself at the end of Negima series? Spent a few decades of seeing nothing but Nagi being paired up with someone not herself and gave up? (I'm just speculating here)
