This is a manga/anime series that is older than I am - and one of the ones I originally got into.
. . . Well, no, that's not quite true. I started Matsumoto's work with Galaxy Express 999 - but they're all interconnected to some degree. Hence my hoping for Emeraldas and/or Maetel.

Looks intriguing. Will see it if I see it once it's released (I lack the hype to keep up with this). The Voice actor in the english dub sounds... maddeningly familiar. Could just be me though.

So, it's now available on BluRay and DVD, and I've managed to find the time to watch it, at last.
While definitely an update/adaptation of the series' characters (Miime is very different in appearance from any version I've ever seen), the spirit of Harlock and his universe is very much present, nevertheless. The dubbing is quite good (the subtitled version is next on my to-watch list), but the Japanese voices include Maaya Sakamoto, so I'm already pleased). My only major complaint is the lack of Emeraldas and/or Maetel (and a bit more of Tochiro would've been nice, too) - but, as stated above, that's just a personal desire.
Still, I have to admit I'm surprised - I never really expected to get my hands on it. My inner otaku is just squeeing with joy.

I liked Arcadia My Youth once upon a time.
E: bad dialogue like, poor voice acting like, ugly cg, it's not actually about the captain, there's literally nothing I can think of about this that I liked.
