Mayflash Universal Arcade Stick Mod

(Not really sure if this counts, but...)

Okay, recently I got my Mayflash Universal Arcade Stick, so obviously the first thing I was going to do was mod it.

Here's an image of what it looks like:

Now, I wasn't planning on doing any cover art due to the lack of experience - but since my joystick is still in AirMail Limbo, I decided to go ahead with it anyway.

Now, in dedication to Melty being my first fighting game "proper", I wanted to display Melty characters, which leads to:

This is my current Type-Moon project going on, though I'm still a little stuck on the backgrounds. Should I choose the default black, or change it to white? Or should I get a background - which leads to a further conundrum in choosing an appropriate version?

And then, which should I choose? (Personally prefer the Akiha one though I need to find an HD version, but I also like to display Kouma and Shiki)

Anyway, the project has slightly stalled until I can resolve this issue - and get a laser printer - but it should go by fairly quickly~

Progress:
*Obtained arcade stick
*Obtained Sanwa 30-mm buttons + supplies
*Dismantled the inner components of the arcade stick
*Filed down the holes to an appropriate size
*Attach artwork to top
*Attach wires to buttons
*Solder the buttons to PCB
*Replace the joystick
*Attach joystick wiring to PCB
*Test for performance/error
*Finish

The Akiha one looks great. Possibly the red splotches on the right of her look noisy to the design. I personally like the black background. Its clean-ish. Sticks that are too bright don't feel serious to me.

Yosh, after a bit of fiddling around in GIMP, I kinda like how this turned out:



Ignore the bits sticking into the white.

I might change the gradient direction, the gradient color, or even replace it with Autumnal Maple leaves, but it looks nice.

Now, I just need to find the appropriate paper...

akiha's outline is really choppy, you might want to fix that first

Any suggestions on how to do so? Googling for help leaves much to be desired - and plus, I'm a complete beginner at this sort of thing.

The resolution looks a little low. I'm worried that it will look poor once printed out.

Not gonna lie, the Shiki one looks by far the best, Kouma looks really good too but the red just doesn't fit the color scheme as well

Actually, not too sure on the gradient. I might replace it with one of the BG/stages from Melty Blood or something.

ahahahaha those icons on the top right

the gradient makes the jaggies around Shiki really obvious but the only other option is black so I guess that's just up to personal preference

Alright, I decided on keeping things simple for my first project.

Final Design at 600 PPI

Ignore the space between Shiki and the edges. That was a mistake on my part, and will fix when I post the edited version.

Now, I will continue to wait for my Disconnects before I continue!
