Well I do think that darker strokes look bad on that pic, but more because of them being lazy done than because of color.

Hm yeah, it's actually more complicated than that. Coloring an already crappy sketch can increase it's crappiness if coloring is crappy too. To be fair, I can't remember whether that Sheryl looked better or worse uncolored --'

Ah well. Coloring is so easy to screw up when drawing traditionally, on paper. It brings a whole set of problems. Various editors make stuff easier. I got so accustomed to tablet and digital drawing that when draw on paper get quite discomforted with the absence of "Undo" button. Such a handy thing. Real life lacks it so much.

Coloring also uncovers errors in picture which were unnoticed before. Human sight works in bizarre way, letting brain reconstruct sizable chunk of what we see from copy-paste, replacing and other tricks. It's much worse when looking on a bunch of drawn lines on a screen or paper we attempt to see a certain object/figure. As drawing gets more complete, we realize how imperfect it is and much brain was making up and ignoring flaws to deceive us into believing it was better.
mmm raspberries

hmmmmmmmmmmmm raspberries
no, for real, they're awesome.
also, i did taste some strawberries here in France in their season, and was a whole different thing than the ones i ate back in Natal (northeast Brazil).
I like homegrown strawberries. The ones sold in shops and at market are often blander. As for those raspberries, they are the prettiest I ever seen. Not sure if the most delicious tho

Colors are pretty, but it's too blurry. I should have added more detail... also gotta stop overusing goddamn dry brush --'
Me and my sister as kids when at grandma's liked sneaking into neighbor's raspberry garden. Don't remember if they ever found out. Our grandma did though, and was angry at us.

My grandparents' house had an entire row of raspberries growing along the side of their house. Most of my time there was spent either watching TV, playing on the beach, or eating raspberries.

You drew the hilts symmetrically, where they're meant to be one-directional.
I know, shame on me for nitpicking on a year+ old post, but you never said that you remembered..
By the way, all of your art is still fantastic.
The thing is, my grandparents also had it, but it was small and totally underwhelming comparing to glorious neighbor's garden. Sometimes our raspberry hunger simply couldn't be sated with a tiny handful of our own, and we raided neighbor's --'
Huh, it's nice to have beach nearby. In our grandparents' town we'd have to walk about 3 km for nearest pond with moderately covered in cow excrement beach, so for us it was mostly TV, various household stuff and playing with friends.
Yeah... I think I also got one of ying-yang things wrong... Thanks, I can't deny that sometimes when just finish a drawing I look at it and all like "wow this is not half bad", but eventually find more and more flaws and plunge into disappointment. I wonder if real artists feel this way

That picture is still amazing though. I kind of suck at drawing. Might try eventually..
