While it truly was a bad episode, what irked me the most was how the Doctor was so completely adamant on how Robin Hood couldn't possibly exist when he's met plenty of other pseudo-historical people in the past such as King Arthur.

If I recall it correctly, the Doctor's insistence was less on "Robin Hood wasn't real" and more on "Robin Hood as portrayed by those romantic, idealised stories wasn't real".

After my run of the Classic Dalek episodes, I think I'll try to watch the Classic episodes where the Doctor meets historical or legendary figures.

While we're on the subject, I may not have liked Robots of Sherwood but it did have one of my all time favourite Capaldi wisecracks.

    It went something like:
Doctor: "There's no way they can be real. Take this one for instance, with all the diseases he has he'll be dead in a month."
Little John: "But I am real!"
    Doctor: "Oh...Bye."

    XD

    watched 11x2
    its certainly better than 11x1
however, it still has every core problem 11x1 had
    not looking forward to 11x3

I more or less zoned out after the blankets; then again, only reason I didn't zone out in the pilot was because I had company.

I liked it. I only wish that, if the Stenza (sp?) are really going to be the grand villains this season, Tim Shaw had felt like more of a threat in the previous episode.

I initially had high hopes for this episode, but that crashed like the spaceship as soon as I saw that Chibnall was writing the episode again.

First things first, the Doctor. I'm not sure what it was, but something about the character really irked me this week, I don't want to say it's Jodie's acting but something about the Doctor in every scene just annoyed me. Yazmin continues to be completely useless. Graham and the other kid have an interesting dynamic that's proving to be the saving grace of this season so far. The characters specific to this episode were completely unlikeable and unmemorable, but at least they tried to explain why the companions could understand them without the TARDIS unlike last week. The monsters were not threatening, I mean really killer cloth? Oh and something about a "Timeless Child" is going to be the arc words this season? Hopefully it isn't as stupid as The Hybrid.

All in all, another disappointing episode that managed to be even worse than last week due to lacking the characterisations of the companions that they had which carried the debut episode.

Next week is the Rosa Parks episode and I'm already cringing in anticipation to see if it's as bad as last season's handling of race.

I'm waiting for episode 11 or 12 when it's revealed, right before the end of the first part of the two parter finale, that the Daleks/Cybermen/Nestene/Sontarians/Time Lords/Rose are responsible for their rapid expansionism and are the true arc villains.

Honestly, I hope that doesn't happen! Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the Daleks and I like all the others mentioned (well, maybe not the Sontarans as much - except for Strax! Strax was funny), but I do think the show needs some fresh blood. The Stenza, so far, are a bit too cliché, but they could work well as villains.

...I miss the Slitheen. No, seriously.

I was initially hyped for the "all new villains" this season but so far they've been completely diabolical (no pun intended).

Can't really see many of these villains becoming classics of the Doctor's rogue gallery.

What was the last new villain race that really got over? The angels?

so as a fan that found the previous season mediocre at best, is it worth picking up the new season or is my time better spent on different things?

As someone who liked Capaldi's last season, I say this one, so far, is better. I'd recommend trying at least the first episode.

Alan Cummings as King James chews, swallows and regurgitates all of the scenery around him, consumes the entirety of the ham provided for him to chew on and manages to make the impossible possible by making me like this episode.

Punjab and Witchfinders have been the most watchable, and the latter only because of James.
