I like it. I was expecting something radically different, but I'm totally cool with this look.

Started watching season 5.
Not bad.
New Teaser. Series premiere will be August 23rd!
Per BBC America’s press release, the Twelfth Doctor’s won’t be the only (relatively) new face on the scene for series eight. Joining Jenna Coleman in companion-land will be Samuel Anderson, who is playing Clara’s coworker Danny Pink.

It will be but they seem to have taken a liking to doing reveals in the US over UK these days.

I really really really hope this is as good as Matt Smith was. Because I fucking loved matt smith as the doctor. Self-inserting as the sonic screwdriver has never been so satisfying.
Just cuz Tennant was better doesn't mean Smith wasn't greatness.
When David left, I was sure that no other Doctor could ever measure up to him - that the only advantage that Matt Smith would have was, as the youngest actor to play the Doctor, we might end up with someone challenging Tom Baker's record for the longest run as the Doctor. But I found Matt's Doctor to be a madcap sort of fun in himself - incredibly capable of switching from silly to solemn to searing anger in the space of two heartbeats. In a lot of ways, I think I identify more with that Doctor than his predecessor, and it was a wonder to see him interact with David's Doctor in the 50th anniversary special, to see how similar they were, while managing to be different people.
I was so sure that Matt Smith could never measure up - but once he did leave, I cried. As before, his successor has a very big TARDIS to fill . . . But we'll see how it goes. Maybe this one will stick around longer than three years - I wish somebody would. A Doctor, a Companion, anybody!

Tl;dr
I sort of liked Matt more than Tennant. Some reason for that is probably that I mourned for 9th Doctor the whole Tennant's first season, but loved Matt at the first sight.
Tennant was too human centric. Smith at least did things in space.
Year 1
Salt Corner
I like them about equally - which I never thought I'd say, initially.
The Satan Pit, the return to New New York, the Waters of Mars, the Library - he wasn't exactly confined to Earth . . .
Now, I have to admit, I preferred Martha over either of his other companions. I was sorry she only lasted a year.

Martha was such a Sue though. And yeah he was human centric that was his shtick and it was nice. Matt was too over the top.
DAVROS!?
I hope he's back.
WOOP WOOP Full length trailer!
So it looks like Smith's goofiness wont be around this time around, though the crazy settings aren't going anytime soon (was that a T-Rex in London I saw?).
Any thoughts?
It sounds like, having advanced from being a "mere" 900 and change to 2 full millennia old, he's hitting his mid-life crisis (though it is nice of them to keep in-continuity like that) . . .
Seriously, though - that's what it sounds like we're in for: a serious Doctor. More in line with Hartnell, or some of his earlier incarnations. Though I do hope they'll keep some humour, and his originating line certainly implies it. That said, from the little of the Doctor that we do see (and hear), it seems like this one has a certain gravitas to him - it puts me in mind of the War Doctor.

I don't mind a serious Doctor, but I'd like for him to at least be a little lighthearted. Kind of like the Eccleson season.
